Rufguts used his size to his advantage in the main event of Hastings Havoc this past Friday (October 24), overpowering the other three men in his fatal four-way match. He was unable to take the win though, as Jimmy Sparx picked his moment and tied the former rubbish man up in a submission hold, forcing Rufguts to tap out.

The action spilled out of the ring early in the match, allowing the vocal Hastings crowd to get closer to the match than they had expected. Dan Stirling became the victim of a three-on-one beat down at one point in the match, before Sparx and Infinity turned their attention to Rufguts. The two lighter men (Infinity and Sparx) leapt from the middle rope to deliver dual cross-body presses to Stirling and Rufguts.

At the end of the night it was Sparx who stood tall. Will Jimmy be able to pick a moment to capitalise and take the win when he wrestles D-Hoya at NZWPW’s The Big One next month?

NZWPW Hastings Havoc Results:

  • Tech def. Bandit
In the first two of five debuts for the night, Tech and Bandit had a fast and frenzied match in from of their hometown crowd, which saw Tech catch bandit with a solid kick and take the win.

  • Misty def. Matariki
Misty, who is in discussion with NZWPW’s CWO regarding venturing overseas, dominated Matariki with the Misty Makeover. Will NZWPW’s most powerful female soon be making her mark internationally?

  • Tykade & James Irvine def. “Dream Catcher” Phil Woodgate & O’Siris
“The Greatest Wrestler in the World” James Irvine (making his NZWPW debut) joined Tykade to even the odds against the Circus of Tragedy. Without the numbers on their side this time, Woodgate & O’Siris were manhandled by the larger men, and ultimately met their fate in the form of the Game Over from Tykade.

  • Hardcore Match
    Hoax def. Hazardous

Hoax and Hazardous made sure Hastings fans wouldn’t be forgetting their debuts in a hurry, blasting each other with canes and chairs in an intense battle. Hazardous took to the top rope for a 450 splash on Hoax, but it wasn’t enough to end the match. Hoax returned the high-flying favour, moving up top himself for a devastating shooting star press to take the hard-fought win.

  • JC Star def. Axl
Having met at Invasion, Stage 4 just one week ago, Axl and JC Star engaged in a rematch in Hastings. Star’s high-risk style almost cost him the match when he missed a moonsault on Axl, but fighting his way back Star was able to reach deep and hit the Sex Drive on Axl.

  • Jimmy Sparx def. Rufguts, Dan “Da Man” Stirling, Infinity
Rufguts dominated most of the match, but in its final seconds Jimmy Sparx leapt into action and forced Rufguts to submit.
