Rufguts retained the NZWPW Championship in a Lumberjack Match at Te Ra O Te Raukura on Sunday, making D-Hoya submit to the Clap Trap.

With the NZWPW roster surrounding the ring, including returning wrestlers Disturbed and Rehua, D-Hoya and Rufguts locked up with the title on the line. Both men were soon exchanging chops and kicks as the match threatened to spill out of the ring. It eventually did and a massive brawl erupted with the lumberjacks taking sides and taking shots at either D-Hoya or Rufguts.

Back in the ring now, D-Hoya powered Rufguts up into the Eclipse, but the champ kicked out after a two count!

D-Hoya risked it all as he headed to the top rope ready to blast Rufguts with a missile dropkick. Things didn’t pay off for the challenger though as he leapt right into the Clap Trap from Rufguts. The fight with the lumberjacks had left D-Hoya weakened, and Rufguts had his submission hold secured too tightly for the challenger to break, so D-Hoya was forced to tap out and allow Rufguts to retain the NZWPW Championship.

Post-match, Ben Mana, Corey Dallas, Chad Howard and Johnny Idol left their lumberjack positions and leapt into the ring to stomp away at D-Hoya. Thankfully, the other lumberjacks came to the six-time champion’s aid and saved him from potential injury.

NZWPW Te Ra O Te Raukura Results:

Session One:

  • “Shining” Nick Silver def. “Dream Catcher” Phil Woodgate and Johnny Idol
After evicting “Dream Catcher” from the ring, “Shining” Nick Silver hit Johnny Idol with the Silver Bullet for the win.

  • NZWPW Tag Team Championship:
The Five Star Revolution (c) def. Chad Howard & The Nerd

A back and forth match reached its end when JC Star connected with the Starstruck Superkick and Travis Banks locked in the Lion Clutch to retain the NZWPW Tag Team Championships.

Session Two:

  • Dan “The Man” Stirling def. Corey Dallas via disqualification
A frustrated Corey Dallas struggled to overcome Stirling’s kickboxing background for much of the match, and refused to release a Boston crab when Dan got to the ropes, giving Stirling a disqualification victory.

  • Tykade def. Ben Mana
Ben Mana’s undoing came when he took to the top rope and tried to take Tykade down with a massive chop. Mana was met with a knee from Tykade though, before an urange drove Tykade’s former partner into the mat to give the big man the win.

Session Three:

  • Misty def. Chi-Tah
Misty smothered Chi-Tah from the start of the match, not giving the rookie room to breathe. A suplex on the outside of the ring was the beginning of the end of Chi-Tah, and Misty rolled her back into the ring to finish her with the Misty Makeover shortly after.

  • NZWPW Championship Lumberjack Match:
    Rufguts (c) def. D-Hoya

Rufguts countered a missile dropkick from D-Hoya to the Clap Trap and forced the challenger to his title to tap!
