Rufguts retained the NZWPW Championship two falls to none against Disturbed this past Friday at NZWPW Heretaunga Takedown.
With both D-Hoya and X-Rated unable to compete against the champ, Disturbed answered Rufguts’ open challenge in the main event of the evening. Both champion and challenger started the match cautiously with some amateur-style chain wrestling, until Rufguts flung Disturbed from the ring and launched himself through the ropes with a terrifying suicide dive! Tykade made an impact this past Saturday at NZWPW Over the Top, entering the Royal Rumble at #19 and eliminating four men to earn an NZWPW Championship match at Power Play VII in June!
JC Star and “The Ideal Experience” Corey Dallas began the Rumble, briefly teaming together to eliminate the third entrant, The Macho Man. Their alliance was short lived though as entry #4, “Shining” Nick Silver formed a new alliance with Dallas and the two drove JC Star into the mat with a double suplex.
NZWPW veteran Disturbed and The Nerd were the next men to enter the match, while SNS hit the Silver Lining on the Ideal Experience, brining their partnership to an end. Chad Howard was out next, and quickly aligned himself with his tag team partner, The Nerd, to eliminate Silver.
Stellar Hammer turned heads as the eighth entrant into the match, before Thor (an apparent ally of Stellar) made his NZWPW debut as entry #9. Most of the Rumble participants rolled under the bottom rope leaving Disturbed alone in the ring to be choke slammed by Thor and squashed with a Stellar Splash!
Misty rushed to the ring, not an official entrant into the match, and assisted The Nerd as he tried to eliminate Stellar Hammer. Misty then tossed Thor over the top rope before eliminating The Nerd too as Johnny Idol joined the Rumble.
Chad Howard dumped Misty out of the ring for eliminating The Nerd and sent her backstage as NZWPW referee Damian Skyfire joined the match as entrant #11.
Disturbed found himself on the ring apron trying to suplex Johnny Idol out of the ring but was blasted with a Starstruck Superkick from JC Star that sent him crashing to the floor. Chad Howard popped Idol with a codebreaker though and eliminated him shortly afterward.

20 Wrestlers will enter with only 1 being crowned the Number 1 Contender for the New Zealand Heavyweight Title. Over The Top comes to Wainuiomata delivering a battle of epic proportions which will see 1 man stand out over the rest of the entrants to truely call him self the future of NZWPW.
Will it be Brains, Brawn, Experience or determination that will ultimately win out on the night. Will the likes of Teh Nerd be able to calculate his way to glory? or will he be put in his place by the more experienced D-Hoya. Can JC Star once again rise to the top and earn his chance to face his long time rival Rufguts? but this time with so much more on the line than just pride.
Can Tykade dominate the ring much like he dominates his sumo opponents? Will Corey Dallas or Ben Mana be able to fight a man they both call a friend? Even Chad Howard, Johnny Idol and Mikey Rave will get their chance as most of the NZWPW roster Present, past and future challenge for a chance to be crowned the Number 1 Contender.

Power Play Postponed
NZWPW would like to announce that this years Power Play has been postponed, therefore! in place of Power Play; NZWPW will be heading for the east coast.
Ray Barret! A man who has been heralded as a hero to the Hicks Bay Community died tragically when the Fire Truck he was travelling in over turned. He and his wife Joan set up the volunteer ambulance and fire service in Hicks Bay almost 20 years ago, with many people losing count of the amount of people he (Ray Barret) has saved over the years. So loved and respected by the people of Ngati Porou was this man that the Mayor of Gisborne has set up a trust to raise funds to provide for his (Ray Barret) family.
His son Tahi was also seriously injured in this accident.
